Multicultural Center Tokyo

Group Overview
NPO Multicultural Center Tokyo aims to create an inclusive society where every person is respected regardless of their nationality, language, and culture. We focus on providing educational support for children who are in need of learning Japanese and other subjects, such as immigrant children. We started “Tabunka Free School” in 2005 for children who are 15 years and older, or students who have graduated junior high school in their home countries and have no place to study in Japan. Currently, we have one school in Arakawa and the other in Suginami ward and support more than 50 students every year to enter high school.
Organization's PR Message
Our main project is Tabunka free school where immigrant students can study Japanese and academic subjects every day basis. Most of them arrive in Japan at age of 15 years and older or have graduated junior high school in their home countries. We sent more than 450 students to Japanese high school in the past 10 years. We have played an important role as a valuable place to study for those students. We also hold a multilingual academic guidance and counseling for immigrant families who have difficulty in having educational information.
