●Newsletter for Daily Life

“HAND in HAND in TAMA” newsletter published every month contains information necessary for daily life of foreigners. The contents are mainly selected from the city official newspaper ‘Tama Koho” which has been published twice a month. This A3 size newsletter is published in English, Chinese and Korean languages with Japanese version on the back page. The articles are not only about difficult news, but also entertaining information such as concert and sports events for foreigners to enjoy reading them.

●Japanese Language Classes

The five classes in a week are held at three places in Tama City-- three morning classes, one each on Saturday afternoon and Thursday evening. Recently, there is a shortage of volunteer teachers in the evening class due to the increasing number of students. Each class has 33 lessons in a year aside from the publication of students’ Essays in Japanese “SAKURA” and Japanese Language Speeches every other year. Beginners also write essays and deliver speeches in public, which help them realize the learning outcome, become confident, and it seems that these also served as an encouragement for learners.

●International Festa in TAMA

Among the many events, the largest one is “International Festa in TAMA”, which is held every two years. This festival introduces a specific country or region in the world such as through a lecture about the history and culture of the country, music and dance, crafts, children’s play, selling of home-made foreign foods, and a fashion show sometimes. We have been making plans with an objective of producing an exciting and enjoyable event by presenting the country from many aspects; so as to understand different cultures and to have interaction between the local citizens and foreigners.
